The Humber Estuary is a valued open space used by many people for recreational activities

Codes of Conduct

The Humber Estuary is a valued open space used by many people for recreational activities. It is also highly valued for wildlife. The diverse range of users of the estuary often leads to increased pressure on the environment. Care is needed to safeguard the area's natural resources and wildlife, whilst encouraging people to use the area responsibly and safely.

The original Humber Codes were published in 2005 and written by the Humber Advisory Group made up of representatives from each recreational group working with the HNP to provide a summary of recommendations for visitors. Individuals and clubs are encouraged to support them, to promote reasonable use of the estuary, while providing a safe environment for both local people and visitors.

If you would like a copy of the Humber Codes of Conduct for you or your club/group, please use the contact us page to get in touch. Alternatively, a PDF of the document can be downloaded from here.

For up to date and current guidance please refer to the relevant organisations in the list below. We highly encourage you to visit their sites, get involved and keep up to date with the current best practises, so we can all stay safe and preserve the natural habitat of the Humber.
