The Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) is hosted annually and aims to drive forward action on climate change. It is at these past COPs that some of the most ambitious global targets to combat climate change have been drawn up - the Paris Climate Accord and 30x30 for example.
While countries sign agreements with the pledge to try and keep global warming below 1.5C, enforcing these actions after COP is the real challenge. COP29 will aim to drive forward these agreements, and turn promises into tangible action.
There are various kinds of COP. The Biodiversity COP16 this year ran from 21st Oct to 1st Nov, and the theme was 'Peace with Nature'.
